Pacquiao training like a machine

When I spoke with Manny Pacquiao last week, he told me that all systems are go, and that so far his camp is going very well. Pacquiao conditioning coach Alex Ariza told me the same thing, he is very pleased with where Manny is at thus far. This has been a different type of training camp, no distractions? No altercations? Nothing of the sorts.

This training camp for whatever reasons has been like a well oiled machine. It's been reported that during a sparring session, Pacquiao knocked down Shawn Porter, a rising prospect in his own rights. This does not bode well for Shane Mosley. When we look at the faces of Pacquiao's previous opponents, it's scarey to think what could happen when Manny has a distraction free training camp.

Freddie Roach leaves for the UK to handle the corner of Amir Khan, and his is absence conditioning coach Alex Ariza will be driving the ship. When I asked Ariza about this he said, " Well yea, I will be running the show but all I will be doing is reading Freddie's instructions off of a piece of paper" and with that he laughed. Obviously, Roach will be leaving some strict instructions on what to do with Manny while he is gone, and Ariza is fully capable of handling things.

As hard as Pacquiao is training, so is Shane Mosley. This would be a huge upset if Mosley wins, but lets not just underestimate him. Mosley even at this point of his career is a dangerous fighter, with 1st ballot hall of fame credentials.

Mosley has some of his peers saying that the fight will probably be closer than what some folks are thinking. I spoke with current IBF cruiserweight world champion Steve "USS" Cunningham yesterday, and he shared his thoughts about this fight, "Mosley fought two very awkward fighters in his last two fights. He hurt Mayweather in round 2 and then Mayweather made his normal adjustments. Mayweather always figures out his opponents by round 5."

Cunningham commented on Sergio Mora as well, "Mora is a 6ft 2inch fighter that fights like he's 5ft 2inch fighter. He is slick and he makes most people look bad when he fights them." Cunningham shared his predicion, "I think Manny will probably out point Mosley, but if he chooses to fight on the inside and bang with Mosley it could get interesting."

I spoke with the Assistant Director of the Mississippi Athletic Commission (Patrick Turner) for his thoughts on the big fight, "I think whatever the outcome will be it will be an explosive outcome. In Pacquiao you have a straight ahead fighter and he comes hard. If the same Shane Mosley shows up that fought Margarito, this could be a fight for the ages. Neither one of these guys are about defense, they are about coming forward and trying to destroy their opponent."

Pacquiao and Mosley may bring the fans an explosive entertaining fight. The legendary Erik Morales and Marcos Maidana just fought an epic war. Morales may have lost a step, but he came in there an lit the place up. Hopefully we will have the same sort of fight in Pacquiao Vs. Mosley.
