When his corporate affairs are running smoothly and look to be highly profitable, Arum is a man of mirth and merriment. When they are not, you can almost see the black cloud over his head.
Going into Friday's Official Weigh In for the Sugar Shane Mosley-Manny Pacquiao welterweight title bout at the MGM Grand Hotel, it's all pleasant Vegas early May weather, warm but not roasting temperatures and blue skies for the mercurial attorney turned fight organizer.

For example, when I told him that website Fight Hype, which seems to have an insider relationship with Floyd Mayweather and his model fiance Shantel Ms. Jackson, reported Mayweather as saying he would spurn viewing Mosley-Pacquiao in order to catch singer Lady Gaga on HBO, Arum jumped on the topic.

Sensing Arum's happy mood, I asked a question I knew he would not answer truthfully. I asked whether he would continue on with Pacquiao on Showtime/CBS or go “back home” to archrival HBO beyond the Mosley match,
“Neither,” Arum said, again cracking wise.
"I got a new deal, I am putting Manny on the Jewish network.”
More laughs all around the table inside the Media Center.
The early PPV TV projections must indeed be rosy.
Maybe they've got Arum going Gaga so to speak.
